A responsible breeder will always do the breed specific hereditary health tests prior to breeding one of which is Hip Dysplasia which can affect various breeds. Each hip is scored separately starting with both hips being clear 0/0 going up to the worst score of 53/53 – the two scores are then added together to give one final score which can be compared to the breed average:

Ask your proposed breeder for the Hip Dysplasia test results for the parent dogs and/or if your proposed puppy is going to be or has been bred from pedigree dogs ask your breeder for the pedigree names of both the dam and sire and you can look up what their health test results including Estimated Breeding Values (EBV) are here: https://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/search/health-test-results-finder/ you can also look up grandparents and great grandparents’ results too.
